2023 News from CPF……

At News | Cheshire Pension Fund there have been two items in December, yet no news at all from April to November !

The CPF 2022 / 2023 Annual Report.  Only online at Annual Report 2022-23

At March 2023, the CPF fund was valued at £6.25bn, with over 110,000 members, in over 300 employers. The Communications Strategy is a “CUT AND PASTE” copy of the previous year, with none of the dates or projects revised or updated, and nothing new for members. CPF claim they want “member involvement” but still cannot contact members by email, hold an AGM for members, or have webpages for member discussions.   In 2023 nearly 2024, all other organisations use email and the internet for full communication with members.

Pensioner Newsletter.  Also only online at CPF Pensioner News

This issue contains topics widely available elsewhere such as a wordsearch, days out in Cheshire, mental health, and looking after ourselves in the winter.  It does not mention UK Investing and returns, “Levelling Up” and UK infrastructure, the CPF property portfolio with no buildings here in Cheshire, the CPF planning application to build houses in Gloucestershire, the government direction on 100% pooling by 2025, or the £120 million invested in fossil fuels for 2022. There was no mention of any pensioner and members meetings, or any plans to collect our emails to radically improve communications.

From April to November CPF published no announcements about our pensions or the running of the fund such as :

    1. The six new councillors on the CPF Committee following the May 2023 elections
    2. The new members of the CPF Board in 2023.
    3. The September 2023 revision of the CPF Responsible Investment Policy.
    4. The outcome of the 2023 consultation on LGPS Investing, that 100% of LGPS investments must transfer to the eight regional pools by 2025.
    5. The October LGPS Pensions Pipeline report which listed the value of CPF investments in fossil fuels at £120 million.
