The CCC have published the latest UK Carbon Budget to support Net Zero (December 2020)

One of the reports The Road to Net Zero Finance recommends: The UK should commit to be the world’s first net-zero financial system. It should focus on making net-zero projects and plans investable. All net-zero policies should be designed so that investments are resilient, fair and enable local action.

In November 2020, the Ten Point Plan attracted wide press coverage and criticism for the limited financial scope of just £12 billion investment. Point 10: Green Finance and Innovation: We will harness the international reputation of the UK’s world leading financial sector to encourage private investment into supporting innovation and manage climate financial risk. In line with the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), we intend to introduce mandatory reporting of climate-related financial information across the economy by 2025, with a significant portion of mandatory requirements in place by 2023.
