Press Release 45 – In October we asked the main investment pool for Cheshire Pension Fund why it continued to invest our pensions in tobacco. We have all known for 50 years that tobacco damages health. Cheshire East has a Smoking Cessation Campaign, yet our pensions are still being invested in tobacco companies.

The reply from LGPS Central, which is part-owned by CPF, was that it “does not make investment decisions driven by moral or ethical considerations”.
